The Charles Causley Festival is proud to welcome the English School of Mongolia (ESM), which will be performing ‘Hector McDonald’, an adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s opera ‘Eugene Onegin’. This is a modern version, set in Hampshire in 2017. The score is Tchaikovsky’s but the production is an up-to-date social media view of the storyline.
All the players and actors are Mongolian and this performance will initially be staged at the Mongolian State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Ulaanbaatar, before touring Surrey and Cornwall.
In addition, earlier in the day, there will be a 20-minute dance and music set (‘Mongolica’) showcasing traditional Mongolian dress, dances and musical instruments.
