The ‘big 100th birthday bash’! 1.00-4.00pm, on Thursday 24th August, at Launceston Castle (free!)

Come to an afternoon of words, music, walks and fun to celebrate what would have been Charles Causley’s 100th birthday!

The grounds of Launceston Castle will host (by kind permission of English Heritage) a very special birthday party on Thursday 24th August, from 1.00 – 4.00pm. It’s free entry!

The event is organised by the Charles Causley Trust, with support from Cornwall County Council, Literature Works, FEAST and Launceston Town Council.

Amongst other attractions on the day, you can:

  • hear the folk musician Jim Causley (a distant relation) and his settings of Causley poems, Launceston College music students, poet and musician Cahal Dallat and Cornish story-teller Anna Maria Murphy;
  • take advantage of the bouncy castle and face-painting;
  • take a ‘poetry walking tour’ of the town and its many links to Causley’s poems;
  • and have some party food and drink!

See the event poster below.
